Give your Voice Wings

Express Your Heart Through Sound

Sing Yourself Into Greater Confidence

So, you want to sing!!

But, do you find yourself feeling a bit raw with insecurity at the prospect?

Do you doubt your ability to get “out there” and actually let people hear you?

But yet, you still yearn to sing?

You feel your heart longing to express itself in song?

And you know you don’t want to leave this life without at least TRYING?

I get it.

Singing can be vulnerable.

It conjures a piece of your soul and sends it out of your body as sound.

It’s an incredibly personal, intimate experience.

Singing requires us to be open - open to experimenting, open to messing up, open to experiencing ourselves differently.

- AND YET -

Making a sound you’ve always hoped for empowers you.

Singing connects you to your body.

It calls you home to yourself.

Taking voice lessons - especially with a safe, trusted guide -

helps you safely navigate through the raw and messy parts of learning something new.

What you learn in lessons will give you confidence.

You will LIBERATE YOUR VOICE

In the Dragon Rose Voice Studio, we focus on

  • Building a strong internal sensory awareness of your body

  • Singing in multiple vocal styles - classical & music theater styles: legit, mix, belt, and pop legit

  • Calming those mean, perfection-obsessed inner critics

  • Becoming your own cheerleader

  • Deeply connecting to the emotions in the song(s) you’re working on

  • Releasing tension

  • Strengthening your tone quality

  • Improving your range

  • Expanding your capacity to sing in front of people - at a pace your nervous system can handle

Give your heart wings to fly - let’s get you singing!

VOICE LESSON OPTIONS

  • DROP-IN LESSONS

  • BUILD YOUR VOICE

  • LAUNCH YOUR VOICE

How we get started…

  • First, we meet for an Explore Your Voice Intro Call - on Zoom for about 30 minutes - to get a feel for each other and chat about your goals and intentions with singing.

  • If we feel in alignment, I send you a link to book an hour-long Intro Lesson. The Intro Lesson is a working audition to the DR Voice Studio: I hear you sing, we work your song(s) and a bit of technique, identify your specific needs and goals, and discuss the options we have to work together. I will only recommend what I feel will be a good fit for you.

  • If we decide to move forward, you are welcomed to the studio with open arms! I send you a link to register for your subscription or drop-in lessons, along with all relevant studio info, you book your lessons, and we begin!

“I am definitely singing better. I can call on my lessons and make sure I'm projecting and using my voice in the best way possible. It's helped outside of singing as well.”

~Susannah Woodbury

“There is a different resonance in my voice than how I sounded a couple years ago. I feel more familiar to myself - this is how I've always known I could sound.

Before singing lessons, I was "driving" accidentally. Now I have techniques that have given me the keys to my own car. It's hugely empowering. It's about trusting myself. I'm entitled to say what I'm going to say. It's appropriate for me to expect other people to listen to my voice. I feel different about myself.”

~Stephanie Sorensen

“It feels like without trying very hard, I'm already doing things I had no idea I could do.”

~Jana Hoffman

FAQs

  • We start with a 20-minute discovery call, when we talk about your desires, your singing experience, and what you hope to get out of lessons. If it feels like we could be a good fit, from there we book an Intro lesson. In the Intro lesson, I hear you sing, we work some technique, and discuss the ways to work together going forward.

  • In each subscription, we plan for missed lessons - a max of 3 lessons are scheduled every month. Singers have the option to have asynchronous lessons via the Marco Polo app. You send a video of you practicing, and I send a video with comments in return. We exchange several videos until we hit 45 minutes, or it feels complete.

  • The Studio handles these situations on a case-by-case basis. Refunds for monthly fees already paid are not offered, but the subscription may be paused or cancelled for the season if necessary.

  • I’ve been teaching voice for over 20 years, and I hold a Bachelor and Master’s degree in singing. I continue to invest in my own skills as a singer and teacher, by taking regular lessons with my own teacher.

My voice clients largely come looking to improve their confidence and life quality; many have also gone on to major in music, and perform in concerts, bands, and local/school musicals.

I’ve performed in concert, recitals, shows, operas, and churches across the US, in Canada, in Europe, and in Indonesia. I am passionate about the voice and singing.

I have been burned with abusive teachers, and I work hard to create a safe space for singers to thrive and take risks.

I’ve also completed the Master of Circle training with Sistership Circle, and am currently working towards a certification as a Sacred Depths practitioner.

Why the Dragon Rose Voice Studio?

The Fire Dragon is my sign in the Chinese Astrological system. This beautiful, firey creature symbolizes transformation and empowerment. One Chinese legend tells of the Gold Dragon, who began as a carp, swimming upstream against many obstacles, and who eventually leaped across the Gates of Heaven and was transformed by the gods into a Golden Dragon as a reward for its perseverence and determination. Singing has the capacity to lead one on a path of profound personal growth and transformation, if that is the desired intention, and this journey requires persistance, determination, and lots of grace.

My connection with the Rose is more intimate - I have long felt drawn to the path of the Priestess, in particular the lineage of Priestesses who identified as the Rose Priestesses, the Magdalenes. This reflects my spiritual journey and purpose. Also, the rose is a symbol of love and compassion. Her essence is reported to hold the highest frequency of plant life on Earth. My intention with the Dragon Rose Voice Studio is to witness each client as sacred and sovereign, and to guide them with love along the journey to greater self-awareness, compassion, and expression through the medium of singing.
